Ignore your initial impressions, the area is quite safe, enemy after dark, no one will bother you (I confirmed this with the hotel staff)

It cost 5 peso to get the bus to town, goto the end of the street and the bus stop is 2 blocks on the right. There is only 1 route so get on any bus. Get back on where you got off, route is circular.
