Florence – the pearl of Tuscany
Florence – the capital of the Italian province of Tuscany is located on the Arno River.
A city with a centuries-old history that gave mankind the geniuses of the Renaissance: Michelangelo, Dante, Galileo. Its significance for European civilization can not be overestimated.Florence is a Mecca for lovers of history, architecture and painting. The city is rightly called the "Cradle of the Renaissance". The list of places of interest is impressive, the city's centuries-old history is embodied in dozens of monuments, museums, galleries of paintings and sculptures. Among the most significant architectural structures are the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, the main cathedral of Florence, the church of Orsanmichele, San Salvi, Santo Spirito, the basilica of San Lorenzo, San Marco and Santa Croce.One of the oldest museums in the city is located here, the Uffizi Gallery and the largest museum complex on the map of the region – Palazzo Pitti.Florence's relatively small size allows you to easily bypass all popular places on foot using the city guide. Of course, the city has a network of bus routes and other transport. Small shuttle buses running along the narrow streets of the historic centre, as well as night buses, offer locals and tourists a convenient way to get around. As in any European city, you can rent cars, motor scooters, bicycles. More recently, a new type of transport has appeared in Florence – a river tram that runs along the Arno River.
